The purpose of our Intern Program is to develop students and young professionals through hands-on experience combined with career development and industry networking opportunities. This program aims to provide interns with relevant experience, connections to practitioners within their field of study, and in-depth knowledge of the market in which we operate.

Through our internships, we offer:

Summer 2013 Session: June-August

Hours: 10 - 15 hours/week

Compensation: All interns are paid a competitive hourly pay. Rate is determined by position and level of experience and education.

Programming Intern

Work Effects is currently looking for a motivated problem solver with diverse data management and technical expertise including .Net, SQL, and/or JQuery to serve as our Programming Intern. This person will be responsible for creating, enhancing, and maintaining database-driven web applications that serve our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Modifying and extending existing web applications on a Microsoft stack
  • Building, integrating, and deploying new ASP.NET and Web Forms applications
  • Adding client-side interactivity with JQuery
  • Writing and editing SQL Server 2008 stored procedures
  • Report design, building, and deployment
  • Infrastructure configuration management

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Diverse technical knowledge and expertise in SQL Server, ASP.NET, PHP
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Preferred experience in programming with complex database interfaces
  • Consistent reading and participation in technical blogs is a plus

Market Analyst

Work Effects is currently looking for a self-directed, highly motivated, fast-learning individual who is eager to take on new challenges to serve as our Market Analyst. The ideal candidate will have experience with collecting and analyzing market information and will possess the ability to work closely with senior management to interpret findings and proposing a course of action. The Market Analyst will have responsibilities in the realm of developing a research plan, analyzing results and presenting information to senior management to influence the marketing plan. Additionally, he/she will be providing information and insights regarding customers, markets, competitors, and campaign effectiveness, and to support business decisions at Work Effects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting industry analysis to uncover major trends and competitive forces
  • Conducting market research to analyze competitors and understand customer needs
  • Completing competitive analysis to build our competitive advantage
  • Identifying new market opportunities
  • Managing market segmentation and targeting
  • Providing ROI analysis of all marketing campaigns and sales activities
  • Generating reports that offer insights about product potential and marketing strategies

 

Qualifications:

  • Student or recent graduate in marketing, HR, HRD, business, or related field
  • Solid business acumen, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, and business process
  • Effective time management
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative and to work independently

Human Resources Development Intern

Work Effects is currently looking for an energetic, organized, detail-oriented undergraduate or graduate student to serve as our HRD Intern.  This person will assist in creating leadership development curricula for one of our new products: Dilemma- based Leadership Program.  Our program builds world-class business leaders from the inside out by allowing individuals to practice the art of leadership while also solving their real-world business obstacles.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating a leadership development curriculum
  • Creating and updating a facilitation and a participant guide
  • Developing Train-the-Trainer materials and training presentations
  • Compiling end-user support materials
  • Drafting documents that support our marketing strategy for the leadership program

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Human Resources Development, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, HRIR, or related field
  • Experience in curriculum design
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Experience with 360 assessments preferred

Marketing Communications Intern

Work Effects is currently looking for a detail-oriented student with expertise in marketing and an interest in HR and consulting. This intern will be responsible for performing a variety of marketing communications, graphic design, and sales-related activities in an HR consulting context.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing articles on Leadership Development and Organizational Culture for blog
  • Contacting professional publications to publish materials
  • Creating professional and visually appealing user guides and reports for clients
  • Assisting in generating sales leads to develop organization's business
  • Writing to support the promotion of recent products and announcements, proofreading, and publishing content for our monthly newsletters
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of our marketing materials and suggest improvements

 

Qualifications:

  • Student or recent graduate in journalism, English, public relations, marketing, HR, advertising, or related field
  • Effective time management
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative and to work independently
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Interest and familiarity with HR and Consulting preferred
  • Passion for communications strategy and eagerness to develop skills in various communications methods and styles

Project Management Intern

Work Effects is currently looking for an organized and detail-oriented undergraduate or graduate student to serve as our Project Management Intern. The ultimate goal of any project for Work Effects is to complete the task on time, on budget, and fulfill any other criteria we set as a company. The intern will oversee project development from the planning stages to completion, including analysis afterward.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating necessary documents to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Planning, executing, and wrapping up projects
  • Supervising the day-to-day operations of assigned projects
  • Handling different functions right from strategic planning and organizing to looking into minute details of the project
  • Allotting tasks, communicating well with the project team, regularly following up, and documenting the process
  • Foreseeing project development, and ensuring projects are on track

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree with and interest in project management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to solve situational conflict

 

Special Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Training, education, and/or experience in project management processes
  • Experience with event planning would be helpful
